Expo App takes advantage of Apple's new iBeacon technology to turn an exhibit into an interactive experience.
A different interaction can be created for each desired piece of the collection, which will be activated as the visitor approaches each beacon.
Interface development
Expo App interface design for the Tom Jobim expo.
The app's navigation uses the concept of a finite-state machine.
For each state (arriving at the museum, close to an interactive module, idle, etc), there is an entrance point that guides the user through the experiences relevant to that location or moment of their user journey.
Based on the desired user experience, rules were set to define when a user enters or exits each state (based on location data from the iBeacons, previous experience, etc).
