SMART Exchange lessons | 2018
After realizing that the SMART Exchange product (a database of lessons) didn't have enough subject-agnostic quality lessons to fill the homepage, I was tasked with quickly creating and curating some lessons.
I was afterwards tasked with creating proof of concept lessons for some external content partnerships.
These initiatives eventually turned into a proof of concept of a content team that I helped spin up within SMART. This content team went on to create a large amount of lessons which are seen as one of the main value adds of the Lumio project.
Lesson themes
When I started working with lesson content, I knew that we would need to create lessons for different grades, subjects and partnerships, so I created a template that allowed me to create a new lesson theme that applied to all pages just by adding a new modular background image and picking 2 colors, with at least one of them from our brand colors).
This allowed me to easily create several different themes and even to adjust to partnership brand colors and themes.
As a part of this, I also created templates for several different activities and page types. From these templates, we were able to create several different engaging activities for our lessons.
Activity themes
Activity themes for middle school and high school. These can be used with our activity creation wizard to easily create powerful and engaging activities.
EZ Robot partnered lessons | 2018
Lessons created in a partnership with EZ Robot.
Creation of 2 lessons that teach some initial concepts of robotics without using any actual robotic products.
The lesson should be used as an initial introduction to the topic and to incite teacher's curiosity of the EZ robot educational products.
Templates | 2017
Base 10 blocks manipulatives activity templates and class management templates.
Mindfulness exercises
Activities based on mindfulness practices to help students take a moment to settle down and focus on their learning.
I advocated for the importance of including not only full lessons and activities, but also resources to help with Social Emotional learning and used these lessons as an initial example. The company has gone on to add several other SEL resources and even setup partnerships with SEL-focused companies (such as Kooth) after the content team was setup.
2 versions for different grade levels. The younger grades had the exercises themed with superhero senses to help with student engagement and understanding.
All lessons had teacher notes that helped teachers know how to prepare for and run the activities.
